Kicking & Screaming

Phil Weston has lost at every sport he ever tried, always stuck in the shadow of his pushy father Buck (Robert Duvall). When Buck benches his ten-year-old grandson, Phil pulls the boy onto a struggling team and signs on to coach it himself. Wrangling a squad of distracted kids turns out harder than it looks. But Phil catches the winning bug, starts racking up victories, and realizes the rival waiting in the final is none other than his own dad.

Ferrell works in his comfort zone here, a quiet loser whose hunger to win slowly turns him into a red-faced maniac on the sidelines. Real-life coach Mike Ditka shows up as himself, and a very young Josh Hutcherson plays the team's star striker.
