Synopsis
The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior (2008) is a sword-and-sorcery action film you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Russell Mulcahy. It's a prequel that explains how a desert tribe's boy grew into a legendary fighter long before the first movie's events.
Young Mathayus watches his father, the greatest warrior of the Akkadians, cut down by Sargon, a brutal would-be king backed by black magic and the favor of the goddess of death. Years of harsh training later, Mathayus (Michael Copon) sets out for revenge. The road drags him into the underworld and a face-off with the Minotaur, alongside the warrior Layla, played by Karen David, and a fighter played by MMA champion Randy Couture.
Made for the home-video market without the original's headline star, it leans on swordplay, mythic monsters and staged brawls. The angle is honest: a B-grade barbarian fantasy that aims for spectacle and not much else, delivering exactly that. Good for fans of old-school sword-and-magic adventure.
