The Stupids

The Stupids (1996) is a family comedy you can watch online on iFILM, directed by John Landis and based on Harry Allard and James Marshall's beloved children's book series. Tom Arnold plays Stanley Stupid, a man of spectacular, cheerful incomprehension who becomes convinced that someone is stealing their trash — and launches a full investigation.

Roller-skating after the garbage truck, Stanley accidentally walks into a black-market arms deal run by corrupt military officers who mistake him for a federal agent. His wife concludes the police have kidnapped their children. The kids conclude something else entirely. Everything keeps escalating while nobody grasps any of it — which is the whole joke. Landis peppered the film with cameos from genuine Hollywood figures: Christopher Lee, David Cronenberg, Norman Jewison, Atom Egoyan, and Costa-Gavras all turn up in bit parts.
