She works inside an odd trio. David Acosta (Mike Colter) is a priest-in-training open to the idea that something is really out there; Ben Shakir (Aasif Mandvi) is a tech expert who hunts for the broken sensor or draft behind every "phenomenon." Case after case, possessions, visions, a killer who blames the voices, the line between a diagnosis and the genuinely unholy keeps blurring. Lurking behind it all is psychologist Leland Townsend (Michael Emerson), soft-spoken and genuinely unsettling.

The show began on CBS before moving to Paramount+, and the shift let it get bolder and stranger: four seasons, 50 episodes, the story carried through to an ending. The Kings blend procedural, theology and pitch-black comedy until you can't tell sardonic parable from straight horror, and that uncertainty is the whole appeal.
