The Boogeyman

It lives in the dark, feeds on fear, and waits by young Sawyer's bed. The more the girls panic, the closer it creeps — and convincing a grown-up that the monster is real proves nearly impossible.

The movie wrings dread out of small things: a light switch, a ball rolling across the floor, a black doorway. Sophie Thatcher carries the whole picture, while David Dastmalchian, on screen for only minutes, lands a scare sharper than the creature itself.
