Synopsis
DOA: Dead or Alive (2006) is a martial-arts action romp you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Hong Kong veteran Corey Yuen and based on the hit fighting-game franchise. The planet's top fighters are flown to an invitation-only tournament on a tropical island, where a ten-million-dollar prize hides the host's far nastier agenda.
Four women drive it. Ninja princess Kasumi (Devon Aoki) sneaks in to find her missing brother; wrestling celebrity Tina Armstrong (Jaime Pressly) is dodging her pushy promoter dad; heiress Helena Douglas drags along a family tragedy; and thief-for-hire Christie works for the very man they all end up fighting. Eric Roberts plays Donovan, the organizer who turns the contest into a trap.
The movie never pretends to be serious for a second — beach volleyball, gravity-defying brawls, and a plot about as thick as a postcard. As breezy late-night fun about women trading punches, though, it delivers exactly what the poster promises. Fans of the game and anyone who enjoys lightweight tournament beat-em-ups in the Mortal Kombat mold will have a good time. Stream DOA: Dead or Alive (2006) online on iFILM.
