Synopsis

Roxanne (1987) is Fred Schepisi's romantic comedy starring Steve Martin, and you can watch it online on iFILM. It relocates Edmond Rostand's Cyrano de Bergerac to a sleepy town in the Pacific Northwest.

C.D. Bales runs the local fire department with wit, courage and one impossible obstacle: a nose so enormous he won't risk chasing the woman he loves. That woman is Roxanne Kowalski, a sharp, lovely astronomer who has just arrived in town. The catch is that she falls for Chris, Bales' handsome but tongue-tied fireman. So Bales starts secretly feeding Chris the words, ghost-writing love letters for a man who can win her face to face. Daryl Hannah plays Roxanne, Rick Rossovich is Chris, with Shelley Duvall and Damon Wayans in support.

Steve Martin wrote the screenplay himself, and underneath the slapstick sits a genuinely tender film about loving someone while staying invisible to them. One of the warmest comedies of the eighties, perfect for anyone who rates wit over looks. Stream Roxanne (1987) online on iFILM.
