New York firefighter Chuck Levine (Adam Sandler) is the station's resident ladies' man, no strings attached. His partner Larry Valentine (Kevin James) is a widower raising two kids on his own — and the city's insurance rules only let him transfer his benefits to a legal domestic partner. Solution: fake a marriage. Chuck owes Larry his life, so he says yes. Everything holds until a city inspector (Steve Buscemi) starts poking around, their attorney turns out to be the stunning Alex (Jessica Biel), and keeping the act together gets harder than any burning building they've run into.
