Synopsis
What Just Happened (2008) is Barry Levinson's caustic showbiz comedy-drama, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Robert De Niro plays producer Ben, whose single working week in Hollywood spirals into one disaster after another.
Two fires burn at once. A test screening of a Sean Penn action picture tanks because the ending kills a dog on camera, so the studio wants it recut while the director threatens to walk. At the same time, Bruce Willis refuses to shave his beard for a shoot that can't start without it. Between frantic agent calls, Ben tries to patch things up with his ex-wife (Robin Wright) and stay close to his young daughter. Penn and Willis appear as themselves, and the portraits sting.
Levinson adapted real producer Art Linson's memoir into a sharp look at the machinery behind the movies — the vanity, the fear, the endless lying.
