About

Synopsis

Good Morning, Vietnam (1987) is Barry Levinson's war comedy, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Saigon, 1965: Air Force DJ Adrian Cronauer takes over the morning slot and lets his trademark scream rip across the airwaves.

Robin Williams plays Cronauer as a motormouth who spins rock instead of marches and drives the brass insane. The troops adore him. Lieutenant Steven Hauk and Sergeant Major Dickerson (Bruno Kirby and J.T. Walsh) see a discipline problem they want off the air. Outside the booth a real war is grinding on, and the jokes keep slamming into censorship, bombings and the deaths of the very soldiers he broadcasts for.

Williams improvised most of his on-air monologues and won a Golden Globe plus his first Oscar nomination for the part. Forest Whitaker plays the shy Private Garlick, while Chintara Sukapatana is the local woman who pulls Cronauer past the easy laughs. Stream Good Morning, Vietnam (1987) online on iFILM.
