Synopsis
The General's Daughter (1999) is a murder-mystery thriller you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Simon West and led by John Travolta. On a Georgia army base, the body of Captain Elisabeth Campbell is found staked to the ground. She was an officer and the daughter of a celebrated general, so the brass wants the case closed fast and quiet.
Warrant Officer Paul Brenner draws the assignment, paired with rape investigator Sara Sunhill (Madeleine Stowe). The deeper they dig, the uglier it gets. Every interview peels back a layer of humiliation, cover-up and military silence the institution would rather bury. James Cromwell plays the general, with James Woods and Timothy Hutton as men tangled in the victim's past.
The film doesn't soften its landing. Its final revelation aims squarely at the cost of protecting the uniform's image, and it lands hard.
