The Yards

The Yards (2000) is James Gray's crime drama, available to watch online on iFILM. Fresh out of prison, Leo Handler wants nothing more than honest work and a quiet life close to his ailing mother.

The job comes from his uncle Frank Olchin, a powerful contractor who rebuilds New York's subway cars in the Queens rail yards. The trade runs on bribes, sabotage and bid-rigging, and Leo's charismatic friend Willie pulls him into it. One nighttime errand in the yards ends in violence, and overnight Leo turns from an insider into a witness everyone would rather bury. Mark Wahlberg and Joaquin Phoenix lead, with Charlize Theron, James Caan, Ellen Burstyn and Faye Dunaway rounding out the cast.

Gray isn't after shootouts; he builds a slow, aching family tragedy about loyalty and betrayal, where the deadliest enemy shares your blood, exactly as the tagline warns.
