Synopsis
Home Improvement (1991-1999) is the Tim Allen sitcom you can watch online on iFILM. Tim Taylor hosts a cable show about tools and home repair. He's great with a power drill on camera and a walking disaster everywhere else.
The whole series runs on that gap. On TV he's the macho king of "more power"; at home his fix-it projects tend to end in a short circuit, a flood, or a visit from the fire department. His patience gets tested daily by wife Jill and three rowdy sons, while the only sane advice comes from neighbor Wilson, whose face stays hidden behind the backyard fence. Co-host Al plays the deadpan straight man to Tim's bravado. The show was built around Allen's stand-up bit about men and machinery, and that voice holds for all eight seasons.
Across its 1991 to 1999 run it produced more than two hundred episodes, sat near the top of ABC's ratings for years, and turned young Jonathan Taylor Thomas into a teen star. The comedy is broad, family-friendly and good-natured, the kind you put on for the whole living room. If you're worn out on cynical sitcoms, its old-fashioned warmth goes down easy.
