Staged (2020) is a British comedy you can watch online on iFILM. David Tennant and Michael Sheen play exaggerated versions of themselves — two actors stuck at home after lockdown scrapped their West End play.

The stage production is dead, but director Simon Evans refuses to let it go. He pushes the pair to rehearse over video calls, and every call collapses into a turf war of egos. Who gets top billing, who keeps interrupting, whose cat just wandered across the screen. Their partners (Georgia Tennant and Anna Lundberg) needle them from off-camera, and guest spots from Judi Dench, Samuel L. Jackson and Whoopi Goldberg drop in as themselves.

Shot during the actual pandemic, inside the cast's real flats and entirely through laptop cameras, the show turns its own constraints into something rare: a tight, improvised comedy about famous people poking fun at their own vanity.
