Stricken

Stijn has it sorted: a successful advertising career in Amsterdam, a country house, a wife who loves him despite his serial affairs. Carmen knows. She's chosen to stay anyway. Then the diagnosis — breast cancer — and the tidy arrangement falls apart faster than Stijn can process it. Barry Atsma plays a man constitutionally unprepared for grief who has no choice but to figure it out. Carice van Houten as Carmen brings a precise, dry-eyed composure that makes every scene between them land harder than any melodrama would.
