Synopsis
Eleanor the Great (2025) is an American drama you can watch online on iFILM — and the directorial debut of Scarlett Johansson. June Squibb plays Eleanor Morgenstein, a 94-year-old woman who, after losing her lifelong best friend, packs up and moves back to New York City after decades away in Florida.
She has no plan. The city has changed; the people she knew are mostly gone. What she gets instead is Nina, played by Erin Kellyman — a young woman whose path crosses Eleanor's in ways neither of them expected. Chiwetel Ejiofor and Jessica Hecht round out the cast, giving the story both warmth and edges. It runs 98 minutes and never wastes one of them.
Johansson built the film as a women-led project — crew and cast alike — and it showed at TIFF 2025, where it became one of the season's most talked-about debuts. This is a movie about grief and stubbornness and the kind of friendship that catches you off guard at ninety-four. Stream Eleanor the Great (2025) online on iFILM.
