Fisher (2023) is a Russian crime drama you can watch online on iFILM. The year is 1986, and along the leafy government-dacha belt outside Moscow, teenagers keep turning up dead.

Three investigators catch the case: measured, bookish Valery Kozyrev; a brash transfer from Rostov named Yevgeny Bokov; and Natalia Dobrovolskaya, young enough that the hunt will reshape her whole life. The one person who could identify the killer is a schoolboy, Igor, whose parents are horrified that he is talking to the police at all. Aleksandr Yatsenko, Ivan Yankovskiy and Aleksandra Bortich head the cast.

Drawn from the real pursuit of one of the Soviet Union's most notorious serial murderers, the show was directed by Lyubov Lvova and Sergey Taramaev with no interest in cozy nostalgia. It sits inside the late-USSR texture — phone booths, queues, a system that spends years refusing to admit a maniac is even out there.
