Synopsis
Operation Mekong (2016) is a Chinese–Hong Kong crime action film you can watch online on iFILM. It draws on a real horror: along the border river shared by Thailand, Laos and Myanmar, two cargo boats were ambushed and thirteen Chinese sailors were gunned down.
Investigators find nearly a million methamphetamine tablets in the holds, and someone wants the killings written off as a routine dispute. Narcotics captain Gao Gang isn't buying it. With undercover operative Fang Xinwu, he tracks a drug syndicate deep into the Golden Triangle, a stretch of jungle where cartel bosses outgun the local police. Director Dante Lam shoots the raids and firefights with raw, almost reportorial fury, while Zhang Hanyu and Eddie Peng play two very different cops circling the same enemy.
