The film traces a single life backwards. We meet a poised Parisian who believes her past can't reach her, then the young woman who nearly went under in the city, then a teenager on a darker road, and finally the little girl where it all started. Played by Adèle Exarchopoulos, Adèle Haenel, Solène Rigot and Gemma Arterton, these four figures slowly resolve into the same person, leaving the audience to reassemble her history piece by piece.
