Synopsis
The Blue Elephant (El Feel El Azraq, 2014) is an Egyptian psychological thriller you can watch online on iFILM. After five years away, psychiatrist Yehia walks back into Cairo's Abbasiya mental hospital and straight into a case he can't refuse.
He's handed a patient from the ward for the criminally insane — and the man turns out to be an old friend accused of a brutal murder. The deeper Yehia digs, the less the file adds up. Memory gaps, waking nightmares and a presence that no diagnosis quite covers start bleeding into his own life. Karim Abdel Aziz plays a rational man losing his footing one session at a time.
Directed by Marwan Hamed and adapted from Ahmed Mourad's bestselling novel, the film runs close to three hours and swings for a scale rare in Egyptian cinema: lavish, dark and steeped in the supernatural. It became one of the region's biggest box-office draws and later spawned a sequel. If slow-burn dread with a buried secret is your thing, settle in and stream The Blue Elephant (2014) online on iFILM.
