Flowing

Flowing (Piove, 2022) is an Italian horror-thriller you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Paolo Strippoli. For a few strange days Rome fills with rain, and every downpour pushes a thick, unexplained steam up out of the manholes. Breathe it in, and you lose your grip on your own worst impulses.

The story narrows down to the Morel family — an ordinary household sitting on years of grudges and things left unsaid. Once the vapor gets inside them, buried anger and resentment come roaring out with nothing holding them back. People who love each other turn dangerous, and a calm family apartment becomes a place to escape. Fabrizio Rongione, Cristiana Dell'Anna and the young Francesco Gheghi lead the cast.

Strippoli builds his dread out of what families hide from one another, not out of creatures. The tension creeps in slowly, skips the cheap jump scares, and rides on the sense that anyone could snap.
