Synopsis
Out in the Open (Intemperie, 2019) is a stark Spanish drama from director Benito Zambrano, available to watch online on iFILM. A boy bolts from home and hides in the cracked plains of rural Castile while armed men comb the land for him.
Out on that endless flatland he crosses paths with an old goatherd. A runaway child and a near-silent shepherd, both with reasons to keep moving, slowly build a fragile trust as the hunters close in. Luis Tosar anchors the film as the shepherd, doing more with a glance than most actors manage with pages of dialogue. Adapted from Jesús Carrasco's novel, it trades chase-thriller beats for dust, heat and hard moral choices. One for viewers who like their coming-of-age stories slow, dry and unsentimental.
