Synopsis
Forty Seconds (40 secondi, 2025) is an Italian drama you can watch online on iFILM. Director Vincenzo Alfieri traces one summer evening in a provincial town — small glances, old grudges, chance crossings — that end in violence no one pulled back from.
Justin De Vivo and Francesco Gheghi play men on opposite sides of that moment: one just out with friends, others carrying a resentment they'd been feeding all day. Beatrice Puccilli grounds the story between them. There's no build-up of menace, which is the point — ordinary hours don't announce what they're about to become.
The film is built around the 2020 killing of Willy Monteiro Duarte, a twenty-one-year-old who stepped in to help a friend outside a bar near Rome and was beaten to death by four men. His name became the centre of a public reckoning in Italy about racial violence. Alfieri doesn't editorialize. He just shows you the forty seconds. Watch online on iFILM.
