Funky Forest: The First Contact (ナイスの森, 2005) is a Japanese surreal comedy you can watch online on iFILM — co-directed by Katsuhito Ishii, Hajime Ishimine and Shunichiro Miki.

Over two and a half hours the film assembles loosely linked sketches: three brothers in pursuit of women by increasingly odd means, a man fixated on guitar practice, non-sequitur scenes that resist any description. Tadanobu Asano, Susumu Terajima and Rinko Kikuchi move through it all without breaking a sweat. There is no plot to track — just a specific frequency the film either transmits to you or doesn't.
