About

Synopsis

The Fisher King (1991) is a Terry Gilliam comedy-drama you can watch online on iFILM, with Jeff Bridges and Robin Williams at the center of one of the strangest, most affecting partnerships in American cinema.

Jack (Bridges) is a shock-jock radio host whose on-air sarcasm indirectly triggers a mass shooting. That's the starting point. Three years later he's crawled inside a bottle in his girlfriend's apartment with nothing left to care about. Then he runs into Parry (Williams) — a homeless man who was once a medieval history professor and is now living inside a full-scale personal mythology, complete with Red Knights charging through Manhattan traffic and the Holy Grail locked inside a Fifth Avenue mansion. Whether that's madness or survival is the question the film keeps asking.

Mercedes Ruehl won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, and the film earned four Oscar nominations total. Gilliam walks the line between fairy tale and breakdown — and the film is better for never fully choosing a side. Stream The Fisher King (1991) online on iFILM.
