Synopsis
The Tashkent Files (2019) is an Indian political mystery from director Vivek Agnihotri that you can watch online on iFILM. A young journalist named Ragini is dropped onto a closed inquiry tasked with reopening a death from half a century earlier — and the case soon refuses to let her go.
At its center sits a question about what happened one night in Tashkent, where Lal Bahadur Shastri, India's second prime minister, died far from home moments after signing a peace accord. The official line of heart failure never convinced everyone. Around a single committee table a historian, a politician, a doctor, an activist and a spy each pull the truth their own way. Naseeruddin Shah and Mithun Chakraborty turn those clashes into a duel of egos, fact against a comfortable legend.
Agnihotri builds 144 minutes almost entirely out of argument: testimony, documents, rival readings of the same evidence. This one rewards viewers who love talky courtroom-style drama and unsolved state secrets rather than action. Stream The Tashkent Files (2019) online on iFILM.
