Synopsis

Dark Waters (2019) is Todd Haynes' legal thriller with Mark Ruffalo that you can watch online on iFILM. A Cincinnati corporate lawyer has spent his career defending chemical companies, until a West Virginia farmer turns up at his office with a box of videotapes: his cattle are dying, and the creek on his land foams with a strange film.

Attorney Robert Bilott starts digging and runs straight into DuPont. For decades the plant had dumped a compound later known as PFOA into the drinking water of an entire town. The further Bilott pushes the case, the more it costs him: his health, his paycheck, his peace at home. Anne Hathaway plays his wife Sarah, Tim Robbins his boss who stakes the firm on the fight, and Bill Camp the farmer who started it all.

Haynes films it dry and unhurried, almost like reporting, and the suit drags on close to two decades. It grew out of a magazine investigation into a real chemical scandal and the man who refused to let go. Stream Dark Waters (2019) online on iFILM.
