Synopsis

Northern Limit Line (2015) is a South Korean war drama directed by Kim Hak-soon, available to watch online on iFILM. The film reconstructs the morning of June 29, 2002, when a North Korean patrol boat opened fire without warning on the Chamsuree-357 near the maritime boundary in the Yellow Sea — six sailors killed, eighteen wounded, the boat destroyed.

Kim Mu-yeol and Jin-gu play officers on a crew of young men who had spent that same morning watching World Cup matches. Director Kim keeps the geopolitics off-screen and stays close to the people on the boat. That focus on individual lives is what sent it to the top of the South Korean box office in 2015.
