Synopsis
The Chestnut Man (Kastanjemanden, 2021) is a Danish crime thriller series you can watch online on iFILM. It adapts Søren Sveistrup's novel — the writer behind the original Forbrydelsen — and the pedigree shows: this is Nordic noir with real patience and real dread.
The first body is disturbing enough. What the detectives find next to it is worse: a small figure woven from chestnuts and matchsticks. More bodies follow. More figurines. Detective Mark Hess (Mikkel Boe Følsgaard) and analyst Naia Thulin (Danica Curcic) start pulling at the thread and find it connects to something the authorities had closed — the disappearance of a politician's young daughter, officially presumed dead. Her fingerprints are on every single figure. Directors Ronnie Ezra, Kasper Barfoed and Milad Alami keep the pace deliberate without losing momentum, letting the architecture of the mystery build across six episodes before the pieces click.
