Music Within

Music Within (2007) is available to watch online on iFILM — a biographical comedy-drama directed by Steven Sawalich, with Ron Livingston starring as real-life disability rights advocate Richard Pimentel.

Pimentel had plans for a career in public speaking. Vietnam stripped him of nearly all his hearing and sent him home to a country that had no system for what he'd become. The men around him — a friend with cerebral palsy, a hard-drinking fellow vet — weren't looking for a cause. But out of that particular mess of broken people came decades of lobbying work that fed directly into the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. Livingston plays it straight-faced and worn-down, without the triumph-arc gloss that usually coats this kind of story. Michael Sheen, Hector Elizondo and Leslie Nielsen round out the cast.
