Synopsis
Blind Fury (1989) is an action picture you can watch online on iFILM, with Rutger Hauer as Nick Parker — a Vietnam vet blinded in the war and trained by villagers to fight with a sword. Phillip Noyce, later of Patriot Games, directs.
Back in the States, Nick sets out to find an old army buddy and walks straight into trouble. His friend is being forced to cook drugs for a Reno casino boss, and the man's young son has been grabbed as leverage. The blind swordsman takes the boy under his wing and cuts a path across the country, from the gambling floors to a Las Vegas showdown.
It's a loose American riff on Japan's Zatoichi films, and Hauer plays it with a wink — slicing through goons with a cane-blade one minute, cracking jokes the next. The finale pits him against a master swordsman played by Sho Kosugi. Fast, light and happy not to take itself seriously, it's a treat for genre fans. Stream Blind Fury online on iFILM.
