Synopsis
Perfect Strangers (Perfectos desconocidos, 2017) is Álex de la Iglesia's biting tragicomedy, available to watch online on iFILM. Seven old friends sit down to dinner on the night of a lunar eclipse and, half-joking, agree to a game: every phone goes on the table, and for the rest of the evening each call, text and photo gets shared out loud with the whole room.
The fun curdles fast. As the devices light up one by one, the table starts leaking everything these people would rather keep buried — affairs, hidden accounts, lies told to the ones closest to them. The apartment turns into a trap nobody can leave without losing face. Belén Rueda, Eduard Fernández, Eduardo Noriega and Juana Acosta lead an ensemble where each character steers a private disaster toward the breaking point.
This is Spain's take on the Italian hit that became the most remade film in cinema history, with versions in roughly two dozen countries. De la Iglesia plays it mean and very funny: a single-room comedy of manners that hardens, over one dinner, into a ruthless audit of how much a phone really holds. Great for a group ready to laugh and squirm in equal measure. Stream Perfect Strangers (2017) online on iFILM.
