Daybreak (Season 1)

Daybreak (2019) is Netflix's teen post-apocalypse series you can watch online on iFILM. After a bomb levels Los Angeles, every adult mutates into a mumbling "Ghoulie" stuck repeating their last thought, and the surviving high schoolers carve the city into rival tribes.

Josh, a friendless transfer student, picks his way through the ruins hunting for Sam, the girlfriend who vanished. Colin Ford breaks the fourth wall constantly, narrating his own mess straight to camera. He ends up with an unlikely crew: Angelica, a ten-year-old pyromaniac with a vicious streak, and Wesley, a former school bully reinventing himself as a samurai with a code. Matthew Broderick turns up as the principal, whose part in all this gets stranger than it first looks.

The show blends Mad Max, zombie comedy and a John Hughes high-school movie, winking at 1980s pop culture from Ferris Bueller to old video games. Adapted from Brian Ralph's graphic novel, it ran one ten-episode season before Netflix pulled the plug, leaving the story open-ended.
