Synopsis

Home (2009) is Yann Arthus-Bertrand's documentary you can watch online on iFILM, a near two-hour portrait of Earth seen almost entirely from the air: rivers, glaciers, farmland, sprawling cities, and the marks humanity has left across all of it.

The camera rarely touches the ground. Arthus-Bertrand, a photographer known for his aerial work, filmed across dozens of countries to build one continuous story of how, in roughly two hundred thousand years, people have tipped a balance the planet held for billions. A narrator walks you from volcanoes and the first forests to oil fields, retreating ice, and ever-widening urban grids. There are no characters and no plot here, only the planet and a calm, uneasy account of what our way of living actually costs.

Produced by Luc Besson, the film did something unusual for a documentary: it premiered in theaters and free on YouTube across many countries on the very same day. It's meditative and genuinely beautiful, the kind of thing worth a big screen for the imagery alone. A good fit for anyone who likes slow, contemplative nature and environmental films.
