The two astronomers set out to warn everyone, and almost nobody wants to hear it. The president is fixated on the midterms, morning shows would rather the apocalypse came across as upbeat, and the internet reduces a scientist's meltdown to a meme. Once a tech billionaire named Peter Isherwell decides the comet is a business opportunity, the question of saving the planet drowns under ratings, polls and stock prices.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence play the astronomers, with Meryl Streep as the president, plus Cate Blanchett, Jonah Hill, Mark Rylance and Timothee Chalamet.
