Maniac Cop

Larry Cohen wrote the script, and the cast brings real grindhouse weight: Tom Atkins, Evil Dead's Bruce Campbell, and the towering Robert Z'Dar, whose unforgettable jaw makes the dead avenger genuinely creepy. Lustig shoots it grimy, mean and unmistakably New York, built on a sharp idea — fearing the one person sworn to protect you. A low-budget classic that spawned two sequels.
