Synopsis
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011) is a cold-blooded Scandinavian thriller you can watch online on iFILM. David Fincher directed this American adaptation of Stieg Larsson's first Millennium novel, with Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara in the leads.
Journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Craig) is hired by aging industrialist Henrik Vanger (Christopher Plummer) to dig up what happened to his niece — a woman who vanished from the family's island estate back in the 1960s. The trail goes cold until Lisbeth Salander (Mara) enters the picture: a tattooed, antisocial hacker with a photographic memory and her own reasons to distrust authority. What they unearth inside the Vanger family goes far deeper than a single disappearance. Stellan Skarsgård and Robin Wright round out the cast.
Rooney Mara earned an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. The screenplay is by Steven Zaillian; the score is by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, who won the Academy Award for Best Original Score the previous year for The Social Network.
