Synopsis
Earthquake Bird (2019) is a psychological thriller you can watch online on iFILM, set in Tokyo at the close of the 1980s. Lucy Fly, a Swedish translator living in Japan, is pulled in for questioning after her American friend Lily vanishes without a trace.
As detectives press her, Lucy recounts how it all unfolded. Teiji, a quiet photographer, drew her in on the city's night streets, and then the warm, easygoing Lily slipped into their guarded affair. The triangle tightens into a noose. Alicia Vikander plays a woman you never fully trust, witness, suspect, or someone carrying old guilt that has nothing to do with this case. Riley Keough is the friend who disappears, and Naoki Kobayashi is the photographer whose lens notices more than it should.
Director Wash Westmoreland adapts Susanna Jones' novel as a cold, dreamlike puzzle of memory, with Tokyo itself acting like a character. This isn't a brisk whodunit; it's a slow, uneasy mood piece for patient viewers. Stream Earthquake Bird (2019) online on iFILM.
