Synopsis

Harvey (1950) is a gentle comic fantasy you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by Henry Koster and starring James Stewart, it introduces Elwood P. Dowd, a sweet-natured eccentric who insists his closest friend is a six-foot-tall rabbit named Harvey.

The catch: only Elwood can see him. His sister Veta, worn down by one mortifying public scene after another, decides to have him committed. Then the sanitarium mixes up which sibling is the patient, and the whole plan tips into farce. The more time anyone spends with Elwood, the harder it gets to say who in this town has actually lost the plot.

The film comes from Mary Chase's Pulitzer Prize-winning play. Josephine Hull took home the Oscar for her turn as Veta, and Stewart made Elwood one of the warmest characters of his career, a man who chose kindness over sense and never looked back. Quiet, wise and a little wistful, it disarms you with pure good nature. Stream Harvey (1950) online on iFILM.
