The Age of Stupid

The Age of Stupid (2009) is a British documentary-drama you can watch online on iFILM. Pete Postlethwaite plays the last surviving archivist in a wrecked 2055, sitting alone in a flood-ringed tower with thousands of reels of footage from 2008, asking why civilization chose not to act on what it already knew.

The intercut stories are documentary footage of real people: a Nigerian fisherman whose catches shrink as oil spreads across the delta, an Indian entrepreneur building low-cost air travel, an Iraqi refugee family, a French Alps guide watching the glaciers go. Director Franny Armstrong spent seven years making the film, largely on crowdfunded money.
