My Generation
Michael Caine invites you to celebrate the '60s: The decade that changed the world
Synopsis
My Generation (2017), a British music documentary, is streaming online on iFILM. Director David Batty built the film around Michael Caine's firsthand account of Swinging London — told from the perspective of a boy who grew up poor in South London and became a film star right as the British class barrier started to crack.
Caine narrates over archive footage, with new interviews featuring Paul McCartney, photographer David Bailey, designer Mary Quant, Twiggy, Roger Daltrey, Marianne Faithfull, and David Hockney. The argument isn't just that the 1960s produced great music and fashion — it's that they changed who Britain was allowed to see as glamorous or talented.
What lifts it above a standard retrospective is that Caine talks about specifics: faces he knew, streets he walked. Stream My Generation (2017) online on iFILM.
