Synopsis
Pavarotti (2019) is a documentary directed by Ron Howard — watch online on iFILM. It follows Luciano Pavarotti from his childhood in Modena, where his father was a baker who sang tenor on weekends, to open-air concerts drawing half a million people and two entries in the Guinness World Records.
Howard worked with private family archives and concert footage, then sat down with the people who orbited Pavarotti's world: Plácido Domingo, José Carreras, Bono, conductor Zubin Mehta, and Pavarotti's widow Nicoletta Mantovani. The Three Tenors, the Peace Concerts, the War Child fundraising — the film lays out how the singer turned a voice into a global cause, not just a career.
What makes this work is that Howard resists the standard reverent biopic tone. The film acknowledges the complicated private life alongside the public triumphs, and the result is a portrait of someone larger than his own mythology — and aware of it. Stream Pavarotti (2019) on iFILM.
