Synopsis
Somebody to Love (FolleMente, 2025) is an Italian romantic comedy from director Paolo Genovese, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Piero and Lara meet for a first date in Rome, except neither of them shows up alone: their unfiltered inner voices keep arguing out loud the whole evening.
Piero is freshly separated. Lara restores old furniture and has learned to be careful with men. Out loud, they manage polite conversation. Inside, each one carries a noisy committee — the coward, the romantic, the cynic, the voice of reason — and those voices push the date toward disaster. Edoardo Leo and Pilar Fogliati play the couple; Emanuela Fanelli and Claudio Santamaria are among the inner characters turning dinner into a comedy of self-sabotage.
Genovese pulled a similar trick of dissecting relationships in Perfect Strangers, and the gimmick here could easily collapse, but sharp casting and quick dialogue hold it together.
