Synopsis
The Corpse of Anna Fritz (El cadáver de Anna Fritz, 2015) is Hèctor Hernández Vicens' Spanish thriller, available to watch online on iFILM. Famous actress Anna Fritz dies without warning, and her body is wheeled into a hospital morgue. That night, three young men slip inside.
Pau is an orderly with keys to the cold-storage room. He invites two friends, and fueled by booze and drugs they cross a line there's no walking back from. Then the dead woman turns out not to be quite dead. From that point the locked room becomes a trap, and three terrified men become hostages to their own crime. Alba Ribas carries most of the film through a near-wordless physical performance.
This claustrophobic debut runs a lean 71 minutes, almost entirely in one room, with no score and no breathing space. It's harsh, deeply uncomfortable, sitting right on the ethical edge, and definitely not background viewing. Anyone drawn to confined suspense and moral dead-ends with no easy outs will find it lands.
