Synopsis
Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967) is Stanley Kramer's landmark drama, ready to watch online on iFILM. Over a single tense evening, a liberal San Francisco family is forced to weigh its ideals against a real test.
Joanna Drayton comes home and announces she's getting married. Her fiancé is John Prentice, a distinguished Black physician played by Sidney Poitier. Her father Matt, a newspaper publisher who has spent decades championing equality in print, suddenly discovers how much harder it is to live those words than to write them. Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn play the parents who have only hours to decide what their convictions are actually worth. Then Prentice's own parents arrive, just as unsettled by the match.
The film opened barely months after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down bans on interracial marriage, and it landed like a direct challenge to its moment. It was Tracy's final film; he died weeks after shooting wrapped, and Hepburn won the Best Actress Oscar. Ten Academy Award nominations, two wins, and a conversation about hypocrisy and love that still bites. Stream Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967) online on iFILM.
