House on Haunted Hill

House on Haunted Hill (1999) is a horror remake you can watch online on iFILM. Amusement-park mogul Steven Price rents out a shuttered asylum and dangles a million dollars in front of anyone who survives a night inside.

Price means it as a cruel birthday gift for his loathed wife Evelyn, but someone swaps the guest list, and five strangers end up at the house on the hill. The place has history: a sadistic doctor once tortured patients in its wards. Doors seal on their own, the walls seem to remember the blood. Geoffrey Rush is clearly having a blast as Price, all charm with poison underneath, alongside Famke Janssen, Taye Diggs and Ali Larter. The makeup effects come from Greg Nicotero's crew. This one runs on spectacle rather than dread — jumpy editing, cheap scares and that late-'90s haunted-attraction vibe. If that era of horror is your thing, it goes down easy.
