Alone

Alone (2020) is John Hyams' lean survival thriller, available to watch online on iFILM. Recently widowed, Jessica packs up and drives out of the city — straight into the path of a cold-blooded predator.

On an empty rural highway, a stranger in an SUV starts tailing her. What first reads as paranoia hardens into a kidnapping. Jessica (Jules Willcox) manages to break free, but freedom solves nothing: she's stranded deep in the Oregon woods with no food, no water, no signal, and a man behind her who hunts people for sport. From there it comes down to one thing — run, and don't look back.

Hyams strips the film almost bare, with little dialogue and even less music, letting rain, mud and cold do the work. Marc Menchaca plays the pursuer with no movie polish at all: an ordinary guy in glasses, and that very plainness is what makes him terrifying.
