Synopsis
Coma (1978) is Michael Crichton's medical thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Dr. Susan Wheeler starts noticing a chilling pattern: healthy patients at her hospital keep slipping into comas after routine, low-risk operations.
That is far too many for coincidence. Susan begins digging on her own, prowling the morgues, records rooms and back wards of a grim Boston medical center to learn where the comatose patients are being shipped. Her colleagues brush her off, her superiors lean on her, and skeptical Dr. Mark stays unconvinced until the danger reaches his own door. Geneviève Bujold leads, with a young Michael Douglas, Richard Widmark and Rip Torn in support, plus a brief turn from an unknown Tom Selleck.
Crichton, a trained physician, adapted Robin Cook's novel and turned sterile hospital corridors into a source of quiet dread. It was one of the earliest thrillers to put a lone woman up against the whole system. The clinical menace still bites decades later. Stream Coma (1978) online on iFILM.
