Synopsis
Beating Hearts (L'Amour ouf, 2024) is Gilles Lellouche's French crime romance, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Rebel teenager Clotaire falls hard for his classmate Jackie. The street offers him more than school does, then takes everything in return.
The story runs across decades, starting in the 1980s. Malik Frikah and Mallory Wanecque play the lovers as kids; François Civil and Adèle Exarchopoulos take over the adult years. A gunshot, a prison term and a betrayal pull them apart for ages. By the time they meet again, Jackie has built a different life and Clotaire still carries old enemies who will not let the two of them just walk away.
Adapted from Neville Thompson's novel, Lellouche's film played in competition at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. It runs close to three hours and leans into bold style, with pop songs, dance numbers and violence stacked side by side.
