Synopsis
Tank Girl (1995), Rachel Talalay's sci-fi action comedy, is available to watch online on iFILM. Pulled from the wild British comic, it drops a wisecracking girl and her tank into a world that has run bone-dry.
By 2033 a comet has killed the rain and baked Earth into desert, and the only water left is hoarded by the Water & Power Corporation under its icy boss Kesslee. Rebecca — Tank Girl — steals it, talks faster than she fights, and flat-out refuses to bow. After the corporation kills her friends and throws her down a mine, she teams up with the pilot Jet Girl and a pack of mutant Rippers. Lori Petty plays the lead like a punk hurricane, with a young Naomi Watts beside her and Malcolm McDowell as the villain.
The movie is loud and proudly strange: comic-panel cutaways, a sudden musical number, mutant kangaroos and a soundtrack assembled by Courtney Love. It bombed in theaters, then grew into a cult favorite for fans of nineties feminist punk sci-fi. Stream Tank Girl (1995) online on iFILM.
